why aren't we millionaires?

this is a question ryan and i ask each other on almost a daily basis. typically it's when we find something that we want, but don't have money for. today it was for this home...
it was built in the 1800's. i'd feel like i was back in pride and prejudice or sense and sensibility, but with updated features. we've now decided that when we do become millionaires, a home in the historic district is where we want to be..i mean how cool and classic is that?

house huntin..

we're probably nowhere near being able to buy a house yet, but we love the search. we've seen so many cool houses and have also learned more and more about the kind of house we want. once the time eventually comes upon us..i'm dying to move into this neighborhood.
every street name is after a flower. i was born to live in this neighborhood.

quality time

the weekend of father's day ryan and i headed to utah to spend it with my fam. after 6 months, ryan finally got his chick-fil-a fix and we both got our panda fix. haha..we're truly pathetic. what can we say..we love food. that friday night the guys decided to go see year one because it looked HILARIOUS in the trailer. but apparently..it's not recommended? and us girls just had a little girl time. us girls included(me, my mother, holly, heidi, alix, jane and ravvy(savannah)). saturday was spent looking at holly and jeremy's new house being built, shopping, and watching "new in town"-love that movie. the weekend was a nice getaway, but after the weekend was over i hadn't really had my friend/family fix, so i "spontaneously" convinced alix and my niece burgandy to come spend a few more days with us up in rexburg. ryan had quite a bit a homework so he wasn't forced into joining in on any girly activities. we watched a few chick flicks, had a bit of girl chat/gossip, ate snowies(tigers blood and cream-a definite fav), walked around porter park and decided riding the carousel there was a must. the carousel it kinda randomly placed and i didn't even know it existed up until a few months ago, otherwise, i'm sure as roommates we would have gone on it often. it was really awesome having them for a few more days. thanks for coming and keeping me company guys! i sure love you BOTH!

weekend in jackson

my parents invited ryan and i to spend some time with them in jackson hole, wy this past weekend. they had made a fun little trip up there with my aunt charlene and uncle russ. so on saturday afternoon we drove up and met up for some lunch at the cadillac grill. we had some delicious burgers and then headed over to the teton national park. the mountains were so gorgeous. animals roamed free and a moose walked within like 20 feet of us..pretty sweet. we then went back to their condo, watched a couple movies and played some games. it was just really nice to get away for a day. thanks for letting us join in:)
june and there was still snow in the mountains

another weekend come and gone...

we headed over to wes and whit's for conference on saturday..in between sessions the guys worked on cars and such. i assume most that look at our blog are members of our church, but if not, you can read about it here.
instead of going out like we normally do on fri AND sat..whit came up with the idea to make pizza. she's become quite the baker and makes pizza on a regular basis. she went ahead and made wholegrain crust and we topped it with garlic and tomato. it was de-lish! and healthy too! now if you know me well you know i don't care about what's healthy and what's not..seeings how all my favorite foods entail fat and grease. but it felt good for a change to know i was actually putting something into my body that was semi-good for my body.
later that night whit and i went and saw new in town. it was a surprisingly cute movie. renee zellweger isn't my favorite, but i love harry connick jr...interested in a fun chick flick? i'd recommend it.

second pass

we ventured over to big jud's with wes and whitni for our second time on friday. we've been doing our best to steer clear of our largest weakness-burger, fries and dr. pepper..but after two weeks, we gave in. i was pretty proud of myself though..i didn't even drink half of my DP and i only had a quarter of that ginormous burger. nonetheless..we will be abstaining for the rest of the month..tryin to get back in shape and into our before marriage bodies..

cravings

Ryan and I have become the connoisseur of burgers over the years. Ever since the late night fast food runs of the FKC(fat kids club), we've tried a number of different burgers. Living in rexburg our options are limited, but we have decided that one of the best burger in fast food comes from sonic. We just recently discovered sonic burgers and crave them on a daily basis.

shooting

Look who's come out from under a rock! it's been weeks since i've blogged and i have a TON to blog about so here is the first of many...a couple weeks ago wes invited ryan to go shooting and for some reason the husbands wanted the wives there. i don't particularly like guns, but whit and i said..what the heck it'll give us something to blog about..haha..we went out into the middle of no where(not that rexburg isn't already in the middle of nowhere) for them to shoot some clay pidgens.
i didn't want to shoot the gun, but apparently i give into peer pressure easily
it really hurts your shoulder..not sure what's so fun about shooting a gun. maybe it just makes men feel manly.
whitni said it made her feel like sarah palin..haha

guitars unplugged

This weekend after i got off my shift on Saturday we went to the best of guitar unplugged. Guitars unplugged is a show at BYUI for students who audition and perform with their bands/solos/duets. It's the biggest event on campus. We went with wes and whit and it was a pretty good show! Much better than last falls.
I tried taking pictures of the actual concert/auditorium, but my camera just wouldn't cooperate!

i love to see the temple

Last week ryan and i got the chance to go to the rexburg temple for a session. We wanted to have a little date night so went with our good friends weston and whitni and brittany and kelly. We went to dinner first and then went to the temple. The rexburg temple really is gorgeous. We're so grateful to have a temple 5 minutes away from us. We decided we wanted to have a date night like that again with the other two couples so we're gonna go once a month with them. I know it'll hlep us go more often when we have people to go with.

rexburg unplugged

This past weekend we went with weston and whitni to this thing called rexburg unplugged. it's this thing for all the vendors in rexburg to put their business out there and give away free stuff to advertise. There was a live band-that i was not a fan of and this guy who sang country songs and he wasn't too bad! we had a pretty good time. Afterward me and whitni and my good friend brittany went and saw sisterhood of the traveling pants 2. It was really cute! I liked it a lot more than the first and it made me want to go to greece SO badly!
i'd never gotten henna before and there was this a little henna booth so whit and i decided to get a little crazy..haha
since we didn't take any pictures with each other on saturday...we took a few pictures after church yesterday

monday date

Ryan and i had a fun date day yesterday. We decided we REALLY didn't want to stay in the apartment all day so we decided to go to smith park(our favorite park in rexburg because it's never very crowded). and normally we walk around the park a few times to get some exercise and because ryan can never sit still for very long, but we decided to just sit in the shade and chat and were very amused by all of the squirrels...haha...Then we thought why not go to a matinee? Ryan won $15.00 at work to the REX movie theater, so we decided to use it! We had being wanted to see Hancock and we got to the movies just in time for the next showing. We were basically the only ones in the theater so it was like our own private showing..haha..We give it 2 thumbs up! We both really like will smith and he didn't disappoint! After the movie we came back home and i made us some dinner and then i decided i was craving cold stone-the cheesecake with raspberries...my favorite! It was a really nice day! I just love being able to spend time with the love of my life!

camping adventure

The boys have been wanting to go camping for an EXTREMELY long time, but since it's been so cold whitni and i have been very hesitant. But this past weekend heated up to 80 degrees so we thought it was a perfect time to go! So on friday night we packed up and went to like 3 different camp sites with a little stop on the way when a herd of cows were trying to be rushed across the road. We finally ended up at the heise hot springs. It was a little bit different camping than i was expecting. We camped on very green grass near like 100 RVs, but at least we felt safe!
the defiant cows that took like 10 mintues to finally cross the road.
our tent was a little bit smaller than we expected, but it fits us perfectly!
the boys had this brilliant surprise for us..
that needless to say we weren't too excited about.
the boys..over looking heise

saturday fun

This weekend we went out to the idaho reserve and played on weston and whitni's go kart (or fun kart as weston calls it). At first i was slightly hesitant, i don't do well with things that are even slightly reckless..haha..but we had a really great time! Whitni and i got stuck on several occasions and had to pull ourselves out from the mudd, but we got it..we're women! the boys..heading down to play
apparently the guys couldn't get up the hill with both of them in it..haha..so weston got out and let ryan drive the rest of the way
i look scared out of my mind and whit's just havin a good time..haha

hidden places of rexburg

If you have ever been to rexburg..you know that downtown rexburg can't really be called "down town"..just more like main street..haha..and when you steer away from main street, the streets are really narrow and the buildings are kind of hidden so you don't really know unless you look, that in these old buildings there are cute little places like: cupcakes shop..bagel place..pretzel parlor..frozen yogurt place..hot dog place(or franks as they call them) and a candy shop. Well..we have always seen this place (or places) near the dollar theater, but they're just on this random street and no one ever talks about it..so we weren't really sure what to think. But on saturday night we went on a little double date with wes and whit. We started off at amici's italian restaurant(where i work) and then went to see vantage point(LOVED IT..by the way!) we were a little early to our movie..so we thought lets just check it out. It was SO cute!
this was just a little section of the candy store..the rest of it was closed.
this was the frozen yogurt area (sorry the pictures are kind of dark. the place didn't have the best lighting)
and here is the little pretzel parlor. weston and whitni got a parmesan pretzel and a cinnamon sugar pretzel. i was too full to try them but supposedly they tasted pretty good!
i just wish the pictures could capture how cute this place was. and i wish that we would have thought about going to this place earlier! i don't really know how many people actually think about going in here, but the atmosphere was just so cute!..(haha..did i mention it was cute?)..sorry..there just isn't a better word to describe this place..it had this sweet little cottage feel. we will probably be making more trips to this place and hopefully it stays in business!
